How can I completely turn off a layer
|

This
page describes how you can 'hide' a layer so it will not appear when QuickMap
starts up, it can still be viewed but the visibility box has to be manually
turned on.

Right mouse click on the layer you wish to 'hide' and select 'Properties' |

2)
Within the Layer properties change the Maximum scale to 1 and the Minimum scale to 2 - save.
