Our goal is to be the most comprehensive and trusted source of property data, with a focus on making it as easy as possible to obtain the required information when dealing with property.  QuickMap is our core product and is used extensively by Surveyors, Valuers, Real Estate, Property Investors and Property Professionals.

With over 20,000 PC's registered with QuickMap each year, we are one of the largest providers of Land Title, Owner, Aerial Photography, Survey, Building and Sales information in New Zealand. Custom Software is constantly looking for new ways to use technology to make access to Maps and Property Information easy, and is committed to ongoing software development to achieve this goal.

Job Summary

This position is primarily a programmer role working on projects to deliver mapping and property information. 

As well as working on new development projects, this role requires support of existing systems. which includes QuickMap.

The successful applicant must have strong skills in Visual Studio.NET and SQL, and preferably also HTML, CSS and JavaScript.  The successful applicant must be a New Zealand resident with excellent oral and written communication skills. 

This position requires a self-starter with the desire and ability to take the lead on a task and possess the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Scope

This position:

  • Reports to the Managing Director
  • Is a second-tier position within the organization

Location

  • Unit 12, 16 Centennial Highway , Ngauranga, Wellington

Job Purpose

  • Projects - Undertake development projects associated with the delivery of Property Information as requested by the General Manager (GM).

Success Criteria:

    • You "Take the lead" on the project.
    • Requirements are fully met.
    • Code is modular, well structured, and easy to maintain.
    • System has been thoroughly tested before release.
    • System is well documented and thoroughly understood by support staff.

Expected time required for this function:            50%

  • Data - Acquire and prepare property information for delivery. Source property information from Government Agencies such as LINZ, Local Authorities, online systems, and translate into a format suitable for delivery. Translation involves database design, use of Geographical Information System (GIS) software and some programming. Delivery will be in QuickMap format, online, or in bulk using standard GIS format raster and vector files.

Success Criteria:

    • Requirements are fully met.
    • Data has highest possible accuracy and reliability.
    • Data kept up-to-date to agreed timelines.
    • All processes and procedures fully documented.

Expected time required for this function:            20%

  • Support – Provide second level QuickMap support. I.e. trouble shoot QuickMap problems that cannot be answered by support staff. Also provide first level QuickMap support if support staff are not available due to being on leave or high work loads.

Success Criteria:

    • 100% of QuickMap problems are resolved to the satisfaction of the client.
    • 100% of questions on how to use QuickMap are answered to the satisfaction of the client.
    • 100% of calls accurately logged in Custom Software’s Client Management System (CMS)

Expected time required for this function:            15%

  • Other – Perform other tasks as requested by the GM. These tasks may be ongoing or projects related, and include but are not limited to
    • Assist in maintenance and administration of Custom Software's Computers, Networks and Printers. 
    • Maintain personal awareness of trends that may affect the operations of the company
    • Implement all approved plans, policies and programmes.

Expected time required for this function:            15%

Technical Skills

  • Strong Visual Basic .NET programming skills.
  • Strong RDBMS skills which include Modelling and SQL.
  • Strong HTML, XML, CSS and Javascript.
  • Knowledge of Ajax, C#, PhP and Perl
  • Knowledge of GIS.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills.
  • Good writing skills - for documentation, training purposes.
  • Good analytical / problem solving skills
  • Good IT technical skills
