This Section is a highly technical description of the QuickMap data, written for advanced users with an interest in the data.
All the data in QuickMap is stored in groups under the layers tab. Each Group contains a logical group of layers. A layer contains a number of distinct features, which are called geometries. Each geometry has associated attributes. Geometry is a term adopted by the Open GIS Consortium to refer to two-dimensional spatial data.
A geometry may be a point, line or polygon type. A line is an ordered sequence of two or more points. A polygon is made up of one or more rings. A ring is an ordered sequence of three or more points that close to form an area. For example, a donut would be a polygon made up of two rings, with the hole in the middle as the second ring.
This section describes the individual geometries and their attributes that are contained in each layer under the layers tab.
Transport Layers Tab
All the data contained in the layers under the Transport Group is derived from the LINZ NZ Topographical maps. In the following tables each QuickMap feature contained in a layer is assigned a Feat_name. Each feature has associated attributes that are also described in tables below. Feat_code relates to feature code identifier supplied by LINZ.

Different geometries can be assigned different graphic’s parameters to enable them to be assigned different attributes.
